Hygge comes to a houston restaurant
There is nothing quite like seeing a room warmly imbued with that special coziness that the Danes term “hygge.” Perhaps it is something about the festive season - crackling firewood, wool blankets, a roast in the oven - that put us in the mood for this winter refresh of a local Houston restaurant. Our team leaned into the holiday spirit while working to restore the fine leather seating throughout this space, giving it back its original, inviting and convivial charm.
Our team at Total Leather Care has worked in countless commercial spaces over the years, each with its own unique challenges and rewards. In this particular instance our craftsmen worked overnight so as to cause as little disturbance as possible to the operation of the restaurant. The leather seating and backrests were collected just after evening close and delivered to our Houston workshop. Our technicians were prepared in advance and were immediately able to finalize the replacement coatings to match the precise color and feel of the original leather finish which had worn down with regular use. These pieces receive higher traffic than residential seating, so we specially formulated our color coating and high gloss, clear top coat to withstand the riggers of daily use while still maintaining an inviting suppleness and feel. The pieces were then returned to the restaurant and reinstalled prior to lunchtime opening the next day. A tough night of work for our folks at the workshop, but well worth the extra effort to know that countless Houstonians will be able to enjoy a moment of hygge for themselves!
